About the Event

Moms Against Racism Presents: Untigering with Iris Chen - Thoughts From A Deconstructing Tiger Mom.

Join us for an enlightening online event with Iris Chen as she shares her insights on untigering. Untigering is a term Chen coined to describe her own experience of detoxing from the hierarchical, coercive, authoritarian parenting style that she grew up with, and her process of moving toward a peaceful parenting style she uses to parent her two children.

We will discuss the intersections of

  • Asian identity,
  • parenthood,
  • unlearning adultcentric supremacy and
  • how peaceful parenting is tied into the wider world of anti-oppressive advocacy.

Be in community with us as we explore the journey of nurturing a healthier parent-child relationship based on mutual respect and understanding. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from Iris Chen's expertise. Reserve your spot now! Space is limited.

Our chat with Iris will take place online, via Zoom on Mother's Day weekend, May 11th, 2024 @ 10:00 AM PST.

We can't wait to see you all there!

We are so grateful to be running another year of MAR Talks funded by the Government of Canada (Financé par le gouvernement du Canada). MAR Talks brings our members and our greater community the opportunity to explore intersecting topics of anti-racism, inclusion and advocacy from the perspective of BIPOC leaders, change makers and inspiring public figures. We are grateful for the opportunity to share these talks as a catylyst for deeper education and learning.
